Golf breaks in Barcelona

If your idea of golf trip includes great views, Club de Golf Llavaneras is definitely your choice for your next golf break. The Club, from 1945, is located just 35 km from the city of Barcelona in a place like no other.

Club de Golf Llavaneras is one of the oldest courses in Catalonia with 75 years of golf history. We believe that there is no better way to celebrate the excellent work that Club de Golf Llavaneras has done for this sport than to dedicate a few lines to present you one of the best golf destinations in Spain.

We must first tell you about the locality. Sant Andreu de Llavaneras is a beautiful town between the sea and the mountains that is located approximately 35 minutes north of Barcelona and 50 minutes from Girona. Therefore, you have two airports that get you the Club course. In addition, the fact of being between the sea and the mountains makes it easier to have a fantastic weather in the area to enjoy golf every all year round.

But the most spectacular thing is the views of the Mediterranean Sea that can be seen from anywhere in the Club. The terrace will leave you breathless! From it you will have a panoramic view of the sea while enjoying the gastronomy of the area. The specialty? Llavaneras peas, also called the green pearl, a delicacy for the most exquisite taste for their sweetness and texture. The “Coca de Llavaneres” is also well known, a Catalan cream pie, pine nuts and sugar that will not leave you indifferent.

The 18-hole (5,028 m), par 70, was designed for the most part by F.W. Hawtree is suitable for all levels. The newest amateur will find an accessible course from red bars where they can practice their game and, the longest hitters or most experienced player, if they have precision, will be able to sign a good score card. On the other hand, the course is always in very good condition thanks to the type of grass (Bermuda and Ray Grass) as well as the great climate of the area. Fast greens, bunkers and protective lakes along the course and defined fairways that create a golf course that will require a good game strategy.

We have to give special attention to hole 17, considered the most beautiful one in Catalonia. It is called “El Mirador¨, and it has an indescribable panoramic view. With 258m in length, the longest hitters will be able to try to drive the green. Also the most daring, because the narrow green is protected by two bunkers, an off limits, trees and a great descent towards the next hole. Either way, with its up high tee box, you will have the feeling that your ball is heading towards the sea, a fantastic way to end the round. Hole 4, a dog-leg with a lake where you will see reflected the large grove that defines the tee shot, is also one of our players’ favourites.

But what most characterize the beautiful Llavaneras Golf is its great fauna, beautiful surroundings and, of course, the fact that the Mediterranean Sea will accompany you throughout the course. So much so, that the Club has also hosted several professional tournaments throughout its history. Professionals from this territory have recently participated in the Catalunya ProTour.

Club de Golf Llavaneras is a very familiar members’ Club open to visitors. With a very particular British style, it has a restaurant, a snack bar for an aperitif, a spectacular terrace, gym, guided gym classes, physiotherapy service, card room, buggies, motorcycles, electric and manuals trolleys for rent. There is also a golf clubs storage service, changing rooms and a proshop where you can get the latest golf technology.

Another reason why we like Club de Golf Llavaneras as an option is because it is very close to Barcelona and has a train line that will take you to the city centre if you don’t want to travel by car. In the city you can do all the activities you can imagine or soak up the culture and history that is breathed in the big city.  If, on the other hand, you prefer to rest from large crowds, Llavaneras is a town that offers you lovely beaches, a seaport where you can do water activities or enjoy a nice walk along the famous Paseo de Los Ingleses where you can breath some sea breeze while walking next to the beautiful houses on the beach.

When it comes to lodging, the Club recommends nice hotels in the area so that your stay is comfortable and close to the course. From this location you can also make hikes through the mountains of the Montnegre y Corredor Natural Park or go shopping at La Roca Village, a great outlet with the best brands 10 minutes from the Club.

Another advantage is how close Golf Llavaneras is to other clubs that make up the Barcelona Golf Destination. The closest are Club de Golf Vallromanes (20 minutes), Golf La Roca (15 minutes), Club de Golf Montanyà (40 minutes) and Real Club de Golf Prat (45 minutes).
