Enjoy golf in a different way at Golf La Roca
An ideal space to experience golf in an easy and different way
Golfers seeking new and less traditional settings will enjoy Golf La Roca, where it’s entertaining and healthy to play your favourite sport. Located 38km from Barcelona, the club offers an ideal space to experience golf in an easy and different way, accompanied by a plethora of values such as wellness, nature, challenge, familiarity, friendship and freedom.
Integrated within the historic estate of “Manso de Vilalba”, in La Roca del Vallés, and occupying a splendid area crossed by the Vallforners stream, the complex extends below the Castle of Vilalba, flanked by the 11th hole of the course. When it first opened in 2006, it carried the name Club de Golf Vilalba, and was designed by Alfonso Vidaor and Magí Sardá. Over the years, Golf La Roca, just a few minutes from the big city and next to exit 12-A of the AP-7 motorway, is now a benchmark for golf in Barcelona.
A level terrain that is easy to play on foot
Its beautiful 18 hole course, par 71 of 5.997 metres, is distinguished by its level profile, which allows it to be played easily by walking. The design is highly versatile thanks to the five distinct approved layouts, allowing you to rediscover the course every time you play it. In fact, Golf La Roca is one of the few golf clubs in Spain with five tee boxes per hole, with enough space between them to offer the player different challenges and great fun. Its flexibility provides new game possibilities tailored to each golfer and creates a most original experience.
The fairways demand all kinds of shots, since you have to avoid the numerous bunkers and lakes that always come into play protecting the greens. Almost all the tee boxes and the greens are pleasantly bathed by the sun.
Among the most iconic holes is the 2nd, “The Tunnel”, a 489-meter par 5 (the Handicap 1 of the course), which stands out for the narrow landing zone of the drive, with a brook on the left flank and two examples of stone pine on the right, which can greatly interfere with the games if you intend to reach the green with the second shot over the lake. The 17th hole, “The Largo”, a 568-meter par 5, is one of the longest in Spain.
This one hole brings together many of the characteristics generally found in the holes of Golf La Roca: water hazards and fairway and green bunkers, all strategically located, surrounded by Mediterranean pine forests, and narrow tee boxes from where the golfer is required to hit accurate shots. In short, you need to use all your skills and carry enough clubs in your golf bag to enjoy the course to the full.
The environmental awareness here is excellent. The design respects and enhances the natural elements of the area (trees, streams, edges…) and shapes a pleasant layout of smooth orography. Everything here is designed to minimize the environmental impact, making the course sustainable, attractive and challenging. It is well worth booking a tee time, to get to know it and enjoy it thoroughly.
Superb facilities next to the most popular shopping centre
Golf La Roca has also developed a reputation as one of the best golf training centres in Barcelona, with ideal facilities for coaching, practice and entertainment. The driving range covers an area of 27,000m2 with two platforms, one on grass and other with 21 covered bays, with six target greens of natural grass. It is also technologically at the forefront, with 10 bays with Toptracer Range, and a swing analysis studio with Trackman 4, completed by a larger, well-maintained putting green, and privileged areas to practice approach, chipping and short game, and a professional service of fitting and clubmaking. The modern clubhouse, designed for maximum comfort, houses the pro-shop and the Restaurant Vilalba, with an exquisite culinary offer of first-rate local cuisine, which can be enjoyed on its enviable terrace.
In recent years, Golf La Roca has emerged as a must-play golf course in Barcelona, with added attractions to enjoy. Apart from its proximity to Barcelona and its enclave at the foothills of the Montseny mountains, other centres of interest in the Vallés Occidental region are the Circuit of Montmeló, the scene of exciting Formula 1 and Moto GP races, less than 15km away and La Roca Village, the most popular commercial outlet in Catalonia, just 500 metres from the golf club, a real shopping hub for tourists visiting Barcelona from all over the world.
If you have come to Golf La Roca, so take the opportunity of playing on other courses with the ‘Barcelona Golf Pass’ offered by Barcelona Golf Destination. The closest clubs are Club de Golf Vallromanes and Club de Golf Montanyà, also inland, and Club de Golf Llavaneras, on the coast.
